Andre Ayew has been named in the 37 man nomination short (?) list for the 2015 African Football of the Year Award.

Ayew has been arguably one of the best Premier League transfers of the Summer. Swansea City took him on a free from Marseille in the Summer and he has already netted 4 Premier League goals as well as winning the August Premier League Player of the Month Award.

He recently withdrew himself from the Ghana international side following a knock that he picked up during last Saturday’s 2-2 home draw against Spurs. Sources say that he’s remained in Swansea as a precaution and to ensure that he is fit for the upcoming Premier League games, starting with Stoke City at home next Monday.

Ayew takes their place amongst the eleven other English based players in total who made the shortlist.

They include last year’s winner Yaya Toure (Manchester City), Christian Atsu (Bournemouth), Max Gradel (Bournemouth), Dieu Mbokani (Norwich), Mame Diouf (Stoke), Riyad Mahrez (Leicester), Sadio Mane (Southampton), Victor Wanyama (Southampton), Yannick Bolasie (Crystal Palace) and Rudy Gestede (Aston Villa).

Confederation Africaine De Football released the full list on Sunday.
