Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen admitted that he needed to learn to be ‘a bit more careful’ when picking up yellow cards, after he was sent off at Blackburn Rovers last Saturday.

The Swans were chasing the game at Ewood Park last weekend with the score at 3-2, but Joe Allen’s tugged back a player and was shown a second yellow card having picked one up earlier in the match.

This, and Taylor conceding a penalty which was converted by Yakubu moments later, ended our hopes of getting something from the game.

Allen said:

‘That’s the first time I’ve been sent off for the first team,’

‘I’ve picked up a red for the reserves but that’s it. I’m particularly disappointed because they were two soft yellow cards and came at a time when we had pulled it back to 3-2.

‘We had the momentum and we were looking threatening for the equaliser.

‘But we’ve lost momentum after the red card and it’s something that I have to learn from.

‘Yes the first booking was particularly disappointing, but I’ve got to learn to be a bit more careful when I’m on a yellow card.’
