3 Swansea City players starred in Wales’ historic home win against Belgium to boost their Euro 2016 qualification hopes.

In a 3-5-2 system, Jazz Richards and Neil Taylor played as wing backs, with captain Ashley Williams in the heart of defence with Gunter and Chester either side.

Former Swan Joe Allen also started in midfield and it was a performance to remember from Chris Coleman’s side. The three Swansea players played their part, helping them to keep a clean sheet against a side ranked second in the World – weathering long periods of pressure as Belgium looked for an equaliser which fortunately never came.

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Aston Villa striker Benteke couldn’t make an impact going forward and Wales’ counter-attacking tactics allowed them to get forward quickly and create chances, and they missed a couple of opportunities to double their lead.

The win, courtesy of Gareth Bale’s strike puts Wales 3 points clear of Belgium in their group, and a further 5 ahead of 3rd-placed Israel.

The other Swans player involved in the Euro 2016 qualifiers was Gylfi Sigurdsson, who played the full 90 minutes in Iceland’s 2-1 win against Czech Republic.
