2 signings expected but McBurnie’s move to Sheffield United is a huge blow

|

Swansea City are expected to make two signings today but it is thought that one of them won’t include a replacement for striker Oli McBurnie who is set to join Sheffield United for an initial £17m.

Chelsea’s Kasey Palmer, another target in recent weeks is expected to join fellow Championship side Bristol City.

The Swans have had a fee of around £600,000 agreed for winger Kristoffer Peterson who plays for Heracles Almelo in Holland’s top division.

Swans supporters will also be disappointed and frustrated to learn that next to nothing of that £17m, which could rise to £20m, will be re-invested back into improving the squad.

Peterson can play on the left as a replacement for Dan James but he could offer us an option up front if we’re low on numbers.

A striker will obviously be our top transfer priority following McBurnie’s departure but once again, the timing is poor to say the very least as we’re just a few days away from the season opener on Saturday at home against Hull City.

In addition to Peterson’s imminent arrival, a loan signing is also expected to be confirmed this week prior to the weekend.
