Goalkeeper Dorus De Vries reckons 10-12 points will be enough to maintain our play-off place at the end of the season.

The Swans are currently 5th in the Championship with 61 points, 8 ahead of Sheffield United who are 7th. With just 8 games remaining, Sousa’s side need to keep up the momentum and keep a decent gap from the teams 7th and below who are battling for a top 6 place. We face Blackpool tomorrow evening – they lie in 9th place and they’re still well within reach of 6th place.

Last season, 74 points was enough for 6th and the final play-off place, while the season before Watford only needed 70 to finish in the top 6.

De Vries thinks that 4 wins will be enough:

‘I think the focus should be on the play-offs rather than the top two anyway,’

‘We’re looking to the next game and at getting into the top six. If teams above us drop points then great, but it’s about the play-offs for us right now.

‘We’re eight points above seventh so we’re probably looking at between ten and twelve points from here on in to make sure we’re in the top six at the end.

‘Blackpool is a big game now. It’s a six-pointer for them and it would have been nice to beat QPR so that we could have extended that gap beforehand, but it’s another challenge we look forward to.’
